Brisbane Taxi vs Melbourne Taxi

I have a theory. Yes another one. As you may have read previously I have some concerns with Melbourne's Taxi services.

On the weekend I was in Brisbane for a family function and had the pleasure of a few trips in the local taxi services.

What I found were professional drivers who:

  • did not speak on mobile phones while driving;

  • had spotless clean cabs inside and out;

  • knew where they were going;

  • spoke very good english; and

  • were polite to the point of offering to carry luggage to and from the sidewalk at the airport and destination.

I discussed all of the above with a couple of the drivers and they could not believe that a driver would not keep up a standard as they did.

My thoughts on the taxi services in Brisbane will be confirmed in a couple of weeks when I am up there again.

My friends who moved here from Brisbane obviously don't care about niceties-they're just glad the cabs are cheaper.

was a bit hard to judge the cost of the travel in comparison. I would say the Brisbane cabs would be more expensive. I agree with you there Mags.

But personally I would rather spend a couple of dollars more and have a clean nice cab.

I'm sorry, you lost me with the first words "I have a theory" and my mind went straight into Buffy, The Musical number of
"I have a theory...that it's a demon, a dancing demon...no, something isn't right there...
I have a theory some kid is dreamin' and we're stuck in his wacky Broadway nightmare........ "

Sorry, you were saying...?

What's a "sidewalk"?

FL - OK footpath. Not sure what I was thinking when I actually wrote the blog post.

Maybe I was thinking about US Cabs or something.

I have re read your post and sorry to say DB, you're sounding a bit Bolt in this post....

That's a bit harsh Mags!

So I admit I am complaining about Melbourne's taxi services. There is no need for us to have an inferior service.

You know a few weeks ago i was in Officeworks and watched as about 8 guys were getting the taxi drivers entrance exam photocopied including answers.

I do agree that there needs to be an overhaul of the taxi system.
As for the Bolt comment, I just wanted a reaction!
Harsh? No, just a gal with an opinion and not afraid to express it.
My motto; Better to be hated for who you are than loved for what you are not.

Fair enough Mags. Comments noted!

Today I witnessed a taxi driver being spat on. I didn't see what happened in the lead-up to it, but I'm guessing that he probably deserved it.

My hatred for taxi drivers shows.

Andy - I do not condone violence against other but I also do not condone un licensed drivers and drivers who do illegal acts.
Taxi drivers want to be treated like professionals then they should act like them at least.
